Instructions for Columbia Walkie Talkies

Columbia walkie talkies are a discontinued brand of inexpensive 2 way radios. These radios were marketed and sold through large chain and box store retailers. The radios have up to two miles of broadcast range and 22 channels of broadcast access. These walkie talkies were made to be easy to use and intuitive out of the packaging. They require AAA batteries, which are not included in the original packaging.
1 Open the battery housing on the back of the radios. Insert two AA batteries per radio. Insert so positive connections meet and negative connections meet between the batteries and the radio terminals. Close the battery housings.
2 Turn the volume button clockwise to turn the walkie talkies on. Press the left or right channel arrows under the small display screen to set the broadcast frequency you wish to use. Make sure you set both radios to the same frequency.
3 Press the side transmit button, a black rubber bumper, to transmit. Speak into the center-speaker of the walkie talkie to talk to the other radios on the frequency. Release the button when done talking and wait for a response.
4 Press the right or left “squelch” arrows to reduce white noise and static to get the broadcast clear.
