Motorola Two-Way Radio Specifications

Motorola is an American company with headquarters in Schaumburg, Ill. It manufactures and sells telecommunications equipment worldwide, including 2 way radios for public safety and government use. A two-way radio allows you to send and receive messages from a single radio. Motorola sells mobile and portable radios, as well as discontinued products for older models. Mobile
According to the Motorola website, mobile radios allow you to communicate with others in any type of environment. Mobile radios communicate over a wireless network. The five models in this category are the ASTRO XTL 1500, ASTRO XTL 2500, ASTRO XTL 5000, APX 6500 and APX 750.
The ASTRO XTL 1500 is for medium size organizations. It is built to withstand dirt, precipitation, shock and vibrations. It also features an alphanumeric eight-digit display, and operates in both analog and digital.
The ASTRO XTL 2500 is for emergency and governmental personnel. It features four different modes: trunked, digital, analog and conventional. It features a LCD display with a 14-digit alphanumeric display.
The ASTRO XTL 5000 is Internet Protocol (IP) enabled and it comes with software that allows you to program the device based on your preferences.
The APX 6500 features dual control heads, and intelligent color, which shows you the radio mode or event with colors. It also comes with GPS.
The APX 7500 works with both the VHF and 700/800 Megahertz (MHz) bands, and it features three different control heads: handheld, integrated and standard.
Digital
Motorola features six different digital radios or walkie talkies: APX 6000, APX 7000, APX 7000XE, XTS 1500, XTS 2500 and XTS 5000.
The APX 6000 features a universal push-to-talk button and a large keypad, and it has a color display. It comes with two microphones and features FIPS 140-2 Level 3 encryption.
The APX 7000 comes with GPS, and it can operate in two different bands at the same time, including VHF, 700/800 MHz and UHF.
The APX 7000XE is for extreme conditions; it is made specifically for emergency responders. It features a large emergency button and a protected push-to-talk button.
According to the Motorola website, the XTS 1500 is designed for utility and public works. Choose from radios with the UHF R1/R2, VHF or 700/800 Mhz.
The XTS 2500 works on both local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN), and it is waterproof. It meets the military 810C, 810D, 810E and 810F specifications for weather and shock resistance.
The XTS 5000 is compatible with smartzone, conventional and trunking configurations, and it is IP enabled. It comes with a FLASHport, which allows you to customize the device.
Discontinued
The discontinued section of the Motorola website provides you with information on upgrading and repairing devices that are not currently on the market. It also sells parts and accessories for these products. Certain dealers still sell these products after Motorola stops manufacturing them.
